A completely beautiful Edwardian Toi et Moi negligee necklace, c1910 with large bold white moonstones, so lovely to see a piece with larger stones and also with rose gold. The blush of the rose gold is the perfect foil against the white/pale blue of these moonstones. if you are looking for a classic, statement piece with a little distinction from the norm, then this could be perfect for you. It would be ideal for a wedding as the moonstones are more silky white than blue, so they would work well with a pale wedding palette.
The large oval domed central moonstone is set horizontally, with two smaller domed moonstones set as drops below it. I love the knife edge rose gold links, which look so elegant as well as enabling beautiful articulation of this piece. It is stamped with the typical Edwardian “9CT” stamp on one of those knife edge links. The two suspended moonstones are suspended in parallel to each other, but each is individual in size and shape. Both have been set by hand in a wide and secure bezel setting. The stones are all open-backed to enable the light to flood through these wonderful stones.
Looks like the fine rose gold is a replacement but it is entirely in the correct proportions of the original Edwardian trace chains. The chain is stamped as 9ct both on a jump ring and on the lobster catch itself. The drop of the lavalier from the top of the central moonstone is approx 5.4cm and the wearable length of the chain is approx 44cm (17.25 inches).
I shall send in a new gift box, as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary tracked and signed postage is included. Thank you.
