Description
A lovely example of a Late Victorian / early Edwardian silver gem stone bangle, this time with moonstones, which is definitely one of the rarer stones to find in these bracelets. It is much more usual to see garnets so to find a line of graduated moonstones in that centrepiece is so pleasing. In the images, I have shown how fabulous she looks when worn with other moonstones so the larger bracelet in those images is not included in this sale but is available separately.
The moonstones are well-matched colour wise, appearing silver with tendency to shift to blues against darker backgrounds or in different lights. There are 7 stones in all, so perhaps this is a significant number for someone too. The antique structure is intact and as you nearly always find, there are wobbles in the straightness of the structure of the back of the bracelet. I have yet to find one of these bangles that is perfectly straight-it is the nature of the construction. It does retain its original tongue clasp and safety chain. No marks, as was typical in the era, but does test as sterling silver.
It is a delicate and beautiful thing, fitting a slim wrist. My wrist is approx 17 to 17.5cm cm and it fits me. It would fit a larger wrist if the safety chain were removed or extended. The condition is good for her age – all original, wobbles to some straight lines of the structure at the back (it is robust though) and the teeniest of a nibble seen under a loupe to the edge of the smallest moonstone on the left. You can not see it unless it is magnified.
The central detailing section measures a touch over 5cm in length.
Complimentary tracked and signed internationally and special delivery to UK. I will send in a new gift box as the box in the images is for display only-thank you.
