Description

This is a lovely example of Dorrie Nossiter’s Arts and Crafts brooches, complete with her typical silver balls and spirals motifs. The graduated stones here are so beautiful and more unusual to find, as they are water opals. It is much more usual to see stones such as chrysoprase or amethyst in similar Dorrie brooches, so this brooch is a lovely treat!

Five graduated, blue-based water opals that have the amazing colours seemingly hovering in that top layer of the cabochons. If you move the brooch one way, nearly to horizontal to your eyes, you see creamy white/pale blue and in some lights yellow. I am always thrilled to look at the top layer of water opals, as there are lightning streaks of vivid purple which you notice when you move the brooch around. The stones are a lovely combination of purple and pale blue. Unusually two of the stones are set with an A&C ropework detail at their base. The others are bezel-set as is usually the case.

This lovely brooch measures approx 6.5cm by approx 2.5cm and is in pleasing condition. A very pretty example of Dorrie’s work with lovely opals too, win win.

I will post with International Tracked and Signed or else Special Delivery within the UK.  I will provide a new gift box as the box in the images is for display only. Thank you!
