Incredibly rare Edwardian 9ct gold and blue spinel festoon fringe necklace

An exquisite and elegant, rare Edwardian festoon fringe necklace, c1910

An absolute treasure of a find and such a rarity. A beautifully crafted and quality festoon necklace in yellow gold with the most fabulous, vibrant blue spinel cabochons. I was told they were blue topaz but having tested them on my Presidium gem tester, they actually test more accurately for spinel. The colour intensity when you move some of the stones around, is fantastic and to me, they resemble huge drops of water. A truly captivating necklace.

To add to the use of these rarer blue spinels, we find too that the drops are not constructed with the use of round links, as with most fringe necklaces. Here we have individually created, long,  knife-edge sections in solid gold, longer for those suspending the oval cabochons and shorter for the smaller round cabs. This necklace is a superlative piece. All original gold chains and stones in excellent condition. The vibrant blue coupled with the yellow gold is sumptuous.

The main drop section measures approx 3cm and the wearable length of the necklace is approx 44cm (17.25 inches). There is a short gold extender and filigree catch box that have been fitted at some point in her past, just to give an extra few centimetres to the length. If you prefer you could have it taken back out again.

I shall package her carefully in a new necklace box and sent by Special Delivery within the UK or else by courier internationally. Thank you.
