Description
A very attractive Arts and Crafts brooch, finely executed and attributed to Rhoda Wager. It has been skilfully worked and has beautiful gold detailing on the stylised split leaves. The opal doublet is fabulous….with lot of tiny sparkles of colours on a lovely blue base. Created c1930.
The heart-shaped leaves are gorgeous and I love the trails of silver wire, dotted by singular berries around the sides of the opal’s setting. It is a joy to find one of these brooches with such a wonderful opal like this. The gold of the leaves and the blue sparkles on the opal fit so well together.
In excellent order, with a tiny bend in the end of the pin. Some patina remains so it would polish further if you so desired. A lovely example, especially because of the opal and the gold leaves. The length of the brooch is approx 7cm and the opal doublet measures approx 1.7cm x 1.2cm so it is a good size.
I shall send in a new gift box (not the box in the images) and by complimentary tracked and signed post. Thank you.
