Matte enamel ring, Theodor Fahrner late 1920s

Description

Some of Theodor Fahrner’s pieces were unsigned and this is one of them. It is from the “Matte enamel with stones” range of jewellery, illustrated well in the book “Theodor Fahrner  Jewelry between Avantgarde and Tradition” by Schmundt  Weber Becker. Similar pieces are shown on pages 206 and 207. For me, this ring sings the Art Deco and it would have been crafted in the late 1920s era.

It has the usual Fahrner touches, lines of red matte enamel to match the coral stones in colour. Marcasites studding an arched bridge between the two stones. The floral repousse work that extends right around the band is typical too. The main section of the plaque at the front is finished in silver gilt so perhaps all of the ring was originally. Over time the band has returned to its natural sterling silver finish. A little wear to the ring in line with her age so that has been taken into account with the price.

It is such a striking and comfortable ring to wear. The face measures approx 2.2cm in length and the ring size measures as approx UK size M (US size 6 approx). Stamped inside the band with “STERLING GERMANY”. It would polish further if you so desired, as there is age related patina on the ring.

I shall send either by special delivery within the UK or else by International Tracked and Signed.  Box in images is not included but I will send in a new ring box. Thank you.
