Description
A particularly beautiful design on this antique Victorian bangle in gilt metal, every part of it covered in garnets. Most garnets are flat-cut and in between, on the sunburst focal feature, there are panels of rose-cut garnets used. It is a wonderful bangle.
As you see, asides from the beautiful star / sun burst to the front, there is a beautiful overlap design underneath it, so it is not a simple band of garnets that meet at the front like most other bangles. It is an eye-catching design with the ruby-coloured Bohemian garnets covering every cm of the design, front and back. It catches the light superbly.
In good condition, there has been a replacement to one stone at the very back and you can see the glue in the hole if you look from the inside. I contemplated having this historic repair redone, however, it is firm and my jeweller recommended to leave it as is. One tiny nibble I spotted in the stone next to it at the back. Asides from that, all other garnets original and intact. The original safety chain is still attached. I would say please check it will fit, as these Victorian pieces were created to slightly smaller proportions than we use today. It measures approx 5.5cm from one side of the oval to the other. I can get the bangle on and my wrist is approx 16.5cm (6.5 inches). Any larger than that would be an issue I think.
