Description

A delightful, English Art Nouveau pendant, with curved lines and that stylised heart design by a Birmingham jeweller, Joseph Wray and clearly stamped with full UK hallmarks for 1908, as well as with Wray’s “JW” maker’s mark. It is a dainty pendant but packs a huge design punch, especially with that vivid green enamel.

This openwork design really allows those sinuous Art Nouveau lines of silver to stand out, and the way the heart is suspended on an angle from one of the lines on the left, is such a clever feature. The enamel heart has an ombre effect in the enamel, drifting from pale green at the top to a darker shade of green at the bottom. It has a set of hallmarks on the front (unusually) and another set to the verso, along with the maker’s mark-all clear.

It has a small bale so will be accommodated by a fine silver chain, although you may wish to have a larger bale added if you prefer a more substantial chain. The pendant measures approx 2.9cm including the bale. In good condition-I could see a tiny sliver of enamel missing from one edge but only visible under close scrutiny with a jeweller’s loupe.

I shall send by complimentary tracked and signed post in a new box, as the box in the images is for display only. Thank you.
