Pretty and petite diamond ring from the 1920s, England

Description

A lovely 1920s antique diamond ring, crafted in 18ct gold with the diamonds set in platinum on the face of the ring. A pretty design with a central diamond, a squareish structure, with tiny diamonds in those outer “petals” and tiny diamonds down each side of the ring. This is more of tasteful Edwardian proportions rather than the chunkiness of many of the later Art Deco rings. It is an elegant thing with an attractive form.

The band is crafted in 18ct yellow gold and the platinum was used to set the diamonds into….much more whiteness and sparkle when the white metals were used with the diamonds. Best of both worlds here with the 18ct gold and platinum combination. The central diamond is a transition cut diamond in its own claw setting, in keeping with the age of the ring. The diamonds in the halo are illusion-set, which was a technique used to enhance the appearance of a diamond by making each stone appear larger by the clever use of specialised settings.

The ring is fully hallmarked with the old English marks of “18CT and PLAT” inside the band….along with a maker’s mark I do not recognise and also a design number. A lovely, antique diamond ring with the face of the ring measuring approx 9mm square. It measures as approx UK size N (US approx 6.75). Weighs approx 2.8g.

I shall send by express courier internationally or else by special delivery within the UK. I will include a new ring box as the boxes in the images are display items and not for sale.
