A rare pare of 18ct gold antique Victorian drop earrings, which have been fitted with a pair of 9ct gold wires for ease of wearing. They are such a statement, as the large malachite roundels used in the drops are typically vibrant with those lovely darker green lines we love to see in malachite. A stone for the heart chakra and actually a rather rare pair of earrings to come across.
I love the typically twisted wires of gold, which form the structure of the earrings. It has been tested as 18ct yellow gold. Those delightful small prongs running all the way around the stone on each earring, are also typical of the Victorian taste.
With a long loop at the top of each earring, in which the 9ct gold modern wire is fitted. The malachite roundels measure approx 1.6cm in diameter and the drop on each earring is approx 3.1cm. In pleasing condition-some wear to the malachite in line with their age, a tiny flake from the rim on one earring but not noticeable when worn.
