Description
Beautiful antique earrings most probably from the late Victorian era. They have been crafted in 9ct yellow gold and each features an oval, faceted jammy red garnet. The stones are set in gold collars, with a mille grain finish and they are open-backed, enabling light to hit the stones. This means you see the jammy red colour that we all love to see in our garnets.
They come with their original screw back mechanisms, which work well. There is a gold ball at the lobe of each earring, from which a link chain is suspended, culminating in the garnet drop. Each drop is approx 2.4cm in height. The screw backs are stamped “9C”. In pleasing condition. I have scrutinised the stones carefully with a jeweller’s loupe (10X magnification) and could only find miniscule wear to a facet edge of one stone. Not visible with the naked eye-just under intense scrutiny with the loupe.
