Description
This is a beautiful hand-crafted design from the c1900 era and which features an upright arrangement of lovely leaves and clusters of three berries on the main pendant. The articulated, smaller drop section hangs upon a simple, twisted wire link, dotted with silver balls. I adore the draping of a leaf either side on the drop. This wonderful necklace is so pleasing to the eye and seems to have so much balance in its organic design.
The pairing of silver and mother-of-pearl is such an elegant and attractive one and the open work design of the form on this pendant, allows this piece to really breathe. There is space between the wires / stalks and between the leaves so that you sense completely the organic and naturalistic nature of the piece. It is reminiscent of some of the Guild of Handicraft work. A beautifully executed piece of English Arts and Crafts design c1900.
It retains its lovely little hand-made catch and is in lovely condition, with no damage to either the mother-of-pearl or to the silver work. The pendant measures approx 4.3cm in height and the chain is approx 52cm (20.5 inches) long. It is a very beautiful necklace and that touch of articulation with the drop is very sweet.
