Description

It is always a joy to come across a Bernard Instone Arts and Crafts bracelet, mainly as there are not as many examples as with other types of BI jewellery. This is a wonderful bracelet from the c1930 era,  which looks beautiful on the wrist and which carries a secret in the stones. When you wear it on your skin, the stones all look exactly the same tone of green. However, held up to the light, you can see the difference in colour between the rectangular jade cabochons and the heart-shaped chrysoprase stones. So much thought went into the design to ensure the tone of colour was exactly right against the skin.

How unusual to get so many heart-shaped cabs in one bracelet – 9 altogether, 3 each in the three foliate panels. They are a wonderfully “glowing” apple green in colour. I love staring at the foliate designs in each of those panels, as you can see the hand-crafted nature and the placement of pieces in ever-so-slightly different positions in each panel. There is also an unusual feature with the rectangular jade cabs, which are faceted in lines, giving 5 facets running vertically down the short side of each of those stones.

A beautifully romantic bracelet, laden with hearts and in greens, which link to the heart chakra. In pleasing condition, so stamps as is fairly typical. Stones in excellent condition and the bracelet looks magical on the wrist. It measures approx 7 inches in length ( a touch under 18cm) and approx 1.8cm wide.
