Description
A unique and delicate piece of English Arts and Crafts history c1900. It features a show-stopping black opal with tremendous green and blue flashes and an arrangement of carefully crafted leaves in 18ct gold above the stone. It is a rare thing to find, especially being crafted in high carat gold.
It is so beautifully light and comfortable to wear, as it also sits flush on your finger. Buttery 18ct yellow gold has been used for the complete face and shoulders of the ring with the thin band section being crafted in another yellow metal. Whether that was for added strength or to keep costs down a little I am not sure. It is a petite but neatly crafted ring and I love to flip it over to see the way the sections have been crafted by hand. It most likely took all of someone’s budget to craft the face in high quality gold and paired with a colourful black opal too – she is quite something!
Don’t be fooled by the petite size of the ring-the opal flashes green and blue vibrantly so this ring will not be overlooked. She is a true gem of a find. In pleasing condition with a teeny nibble from the edge of the opal, visible under a high magnification jeweller’s loupe. You don’t see it with the naked eye. She measures as approx UK size K (US 5.25).
I shall send her in a new ring gift box by international tracked and signed or else by special delivery within the UK. Boxes in the images are for display only-thank you. Ref: ctq
