Description
A classic and well-constructed vintage ring clearly stamped with the old English mark “9ct”, along with two sets of numbers. One is stamped and the other is lightly etched by hand by the jeweller at its creation undoubtedly. As it carries the old English hallmark I am guessing it is from the c1930 era. It is in such wonderful condition and is actually a very sleek and sophisticated design, with a pleasingly large stone.
A simple single shank and six squareish-shaped claws, retaining the jade. The stone is a bright green with a marbled appearance, clearly testing as jade on the Presidium gem tester but hovering at the top end of Nephrite and bottom end of jadeite-too close for me to call, although I do suspect jadeite. The stone measures approx 18mm x 11mm so is a beautifully eye-catching example, glossy and in excellent condition with no wear I can see.
The ring sits low to the finger and is comfortable and easy to wear. It measures as approx UK size N (US 6.5) and is ready to wear or else to gift to a lucky recipient. I shall send in a new gift box (not the double door box in the images as that is for display) and by complimentary International tracked and signed post or else special delivery within the UK. Thank you.
