Description
An impressive pair of c1910 sterling silver statement-sized earrings in an Arts and Crafts foliate and berry design, and displaying a pair of highly adularescent moonstones on each earring. The stones shimmer silver to blue very easily and all four are well-matched. It is relatively rare to come across A&C earrings like this, especially of a generous size so they make quite the impact.
The design is so attractive , with an oval moonstone set at the lobe point and suspended from there we have a silver open work design of scrolls and leaves, with a pair of centrally-set flowers; one each side of the second moonstone. The moonstone in this case, has a rope work detailing at the base of its setting in true A&C style. The earrings retain their original silver screw back mechanisms and they are in good working order. I love the movement you get when they are worn…they are very eye-catching pieces.
The stones and silver work are in excellent order, with the silver retaining some patina. I have not over polished them so they would clean further if you preferred to remove the patina. For me, it adds depth to the design.
Each earring measures approx 3.5cm in height. They are lovely things, which are difficult to find nowadays, especially with such moonstones. I will send in a new gift box (not the box in the images) by Special Delivery within the UK or else by International Tracked and Signed. Thank you.
