An absolute beauty of a ring, in the most attractive design from the 1930s era that has a square chequerboard of filigree work, set with those sparkling spinels, around the fabulous spessartite garnet. It look so amazing when worn, as you can see.
This fabulous Art Deco ring features a large cushion-cut and deep orange/red spessartite garnet so if you are a January baby and seek a garnet that is a little different-then look no further. It is actually rather rare to find one of this size set in an antique ring and when looking under the loupe you see so much depth and interest in the main stone-it is beautiful. It has been set in a finely millegrained setting so is nestled in beautifully. I adore the open work square border, clear, sparkling stones, testing as spinels, are set to each corner and in the centre on each side. There is also an engraved detail to each shoulder on the band.
This ring sits low to the finger, so sits really snuggly and well-just how I prefer. It is a ring with age to it so is not perfect. I scrutinise carefully with a jeweller’s loupe. I found some very light wear to the main stone with two teeny tiny nibbles (I mean we are talking minute!!! You cannot see without the loupe) at the setting facet. Nothing to see with the naked eye and you could even miss it with the loupe. I tested the spinels and one-looking exactly the same as the others tested as paste, so I assume it has been a historic replacement. You absolutely cannot tell which one-I made myself laugh as I kept forgetting which one it was when looking at her closely so had to keep lifting out my gem testing machine to remind myself. It is a majestic ring to be honest and you don’t often come across something with such a different design and more unusual stones. The band is misshapen as is often the case, but she wears perfectly. An easy fix for a jeweller if it bothers you when you receive it. Size measures as approx L.5 (US 5.75/6).
No markings but tested as sterling, spessartite garnet and spinels. Orange and sparkly clear stones are such a joy together so this ring will make you smile for sure. I will send by complimentary tracked and signed and in a new gift box (not the one in the images). Thank you.
