I am calling this fabulous ring the Edwardian “bonbon” ring, as it reminds me of the most delicious sweetie with the wrapper gathered at either end. She is English from the c1920 /1930 era with partially rubbed English hallmarks for 9ct gold on the inside of the band. Truly a spectacular ring with a large, oval 8ct aquamarine (in appraisal) at her heart. I have just had the ring professionally polished by my jeweller, who has also valued the ring for insurance purposes at £2,800. He is a member of the UK’s National Association of Jewellers.
This impressive aquamarine gem has been beautifully faceted with a large flat facet on show over most of the front view. I love the view of the stone from the side- such a pleasing gem. It is held in place by four sets of double squareish claws and is flanked on either side by a pair of bright white diamonds, graded in the G-H colour band, so there is plenty of white sparkle. The total weight of the accent diamonds is approx 0.25ct.
A fabulous design which showcases this glamorous, super sparkly, pale blue aquamarine, with those eye-catching diamond accents. A sturdy, solid structure with a thick band, that is also hugely wearable. It measures as approx UK size K (US 5.25) although it is a sturdy design with a plain band so your jeweller could easily resize it for you if required.
This is the sort of ring that you simply can’t help noticing-it is a beautiful statement on the finger, as I am sure you can see from the images. In pleasing condition-when scrutinised with a 10x magnification loupe I could only find one teeny light scratch on the aqua but it is minute. The ring is most likely 100 years old so she is doing superbly well! Freshly pampered, polished and ready to go to her next forever home.
