Description
A fabulously rare pair of elegant, antique drop earrings. Crafted in 15ct gold, the chains and drop have been adapted to fit to 9ct gold wires, meaning they are ready to wear with comfort. I feel they are late 1800s, Victorian design, right before the explosion of the Art Nouveau designs. In fact, you can see some organic, curved gold wire decoration on the cap on each of the drops. I have seen a pair of almost identical earrings sell in a top end store, although the seller stated they were Georgian, early 1820s. I think they are perhaps later than that at late 1800s to 1900.
The finely crafted drops have been carved as flowers from the white coral. With the gold stopper at the end, they remind me of fuchsia flowers. An ornate cap has been crafted with sinuous gold lines and tiny bezel-set turquoise stones incorporated into the design. The colour palette is wonderfully pure and fresh, with the white really pulling in the pop of the vivid turquoise and all in high grade gold, giving that buttery yellow as the backdrop. Beautiful things indeed, which are so decadent in design.
Each drop, including chain, is approx 4cm in length. Unmarked but tested as 15ct gold with 9ct gold wires.
I shall send in a new gift box to keep them safe and will send by international express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only-thank you.
