Description
A completely stunning, early and highly collectable piece of antique design by Georg Jensen. Complete with its own original paperclip chain and toggle clasp. It has all the markings you would hope to see, the raised dots mark of “Georg Jensen”, used in the 1915-1930 period, “830” for the standard of silver and “4” for the number of the necklace design. I believe Georg designed this necklace himself in c1905 era. I am including her lovely antique necklace box too, so you can keep her safe. (please note it is the more fitted box shown next to the image of the box and not the Liberty box that is included)
An Art Nouveau / Arts & Crafts beauty, with the large pendant being sinuous and organic in its form. There is a pair of hand-tooled leaves draped to each side of the pendant’s surmount. I have left the aged patina, as I think it enhances the heritage of the piece plus you also see those hand tooled lines so much more. From these large leaves is suspended a run of heart shaped flowers or leaves which are very reminiscent of the love-lies-bleeding flowers. Within the oval structure we can see an oval rose quartz with the usual Jensen silver balls forming a halo around it. Two lines of silver lead the eye upwards to a pair of lapis lazuli cabochons. I love the pink and blue combination of the gem stones; it adds a further sense of levity to the overall design.
I love the way that Jensen has threaded the silver chain through the two curls from the leaf stems right at the top of the pendant. Original paperclip-type chain in sterling with the original toggle too, which means she is beautifully authentic and intact. A wonderful early 1900s antique Georg Jensen piece.
An early piece from the Art Nouveau / Arts & Crafts period is highly collectable and this gorgeous thing is in lovely condition-some patina but you can polish further if you desire.
The wearable length of the chain measures approx 62.5cm (approx 24.5 inches), and the pendant measures a tiny touch under 5cm in height.
A collector’s dream…even if it is to be the first Jensen piece in your collection…what a start!!! AND an amazing antique necklace presentation box to pair with her too. If you do not wish to have this box, please just message me.
I will post the necklace by express courier internationally or else by special delivery within the UK. Thank you.
