Description

A sumptuous pair of antique Edwardian drop earrings c1910 of beautiful form with the most beautiful deep and intense amethysts, being most likely Siberian amethysts. Their colour is vivid and always reminds me of that lovely “Cadbury’s” intense purple colour. The faceted stones are graduated, with the largest stone being at the end of the drop.

A gold flower set with a real seed pearl sits at the lobe. I love that the earrings retain their original gold screw backs, stamped clearly with the Edwardian mark “9CT”. Earrings are also marked with the antique stamp “9CT” on one of the settings. There is a rich yellow to the gold and that foils the purple of the amethysts beautifully. Each stone is set in its own gold bezel collar, which has been finely millegrained by hand.

Beautiful pieces and if you love the gold and amethyst combination- these show the combination off in the most gorgeous design, with those graduated stones in the drop. They are in absolutely immaculate condition, with no damage to the stones.
Each earring measures approx 3.6cm.
