Description

This is an exquisite hand-wrought Art Nouveau / Arts and Crafts necklace, crafted in 15ct gold, dating from the c1900-1910 era. I sold a very similar bracelet by Murrle Bennett in 9ct gold in the past, so this may well be by them too, as this has had a clasp replacement and most likely lost the maker’s mark in that process. The quality and detailing is fabulous, with the beautiful caged amethysts and caged pearls being quite a treat. Usually one of the stones would rafted in this “caged” design but here, as you can see, all stones are caged. Wonderful!

The contrast of the creamy white of the pearls to the vivid purple of the amethysts is lovely. Add into that, the soft tone of the gold, which is definitely more of a rose gold than a yellow, then you have a beautiful example of this type of necklace.

It is in pleasing condition and would make an exquisite gift for a lucky recipient. A particularly versatile piece that could be worn with a tee or else embellishing glamorous evening wear – it would be at home in either scenario.

It measures approx 42.5cm (17.75 inches) chain is also the original, although it has had a clasp replacement at some point. Although a good colour match for the gold, the clasp does not test as gold.

I shall send in a new necklace presentation box by complimentary special delivery within the UK or else by international express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
