Description

This is a most attractive c1920-1930 English Arts and Crafts necklace, which, at first glance, I thought may have been an Amy Sandheim, however, there appear to be more similarities with how Dorrie Nossiter finished her pieces. It is more unusual, with those extended, hand-wrought silver leaves that cover approximately half of the rose quartz stone, as I have only come across a handful of Dorrie’s pieces with leaves. It is a carefully and precisely crafted pendant, that is accompanied by its original matching chain and hand wrought toggle fastener.

Those sleek, undulating leaves decorating the top of this pear-shaped rose quartz stone are so eye-catching and I love that you see the organic nature of the work, in that the two sides are slightly different to one another. Clusters of three of four berries intersperse the design with larger clusters near the bale, along with those typical spirals and tendrils.

I love the way the silver wires are wrapped onto that loop where the bale is attached -again, typical of Dorrie’s finish. Great to have the original in perfect condition too, and complete with its original toggle fastener. There are three pairs of matching stones up each side of the chain, with a central bead of rose quart sandwiched between two rock quartz rondelles. I adore the length of this chain as sometimes the super long sautoirs are tricky to wear- this chain length measures approx 62cm (24.5 inches). So useful!

In such pleasing condition, even the large rose quartz, and all beautifully hand crafted. The pendant measures approx 7cm in height and the rose quartz has lots of interesting features within it. It is a beautiful example and ready to wear.

I shall send in a necklace presentation box by Special Delivery within the UK or else by International Express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only and are not included.
