A very pretty Amy Sandheim of London floral pendant, c1930, which has a large Swiss lapis stone as the main player and a beautiful flower decoration dotted with a variety of other gemstones. I love these Amy pieces and they really are becoming difficult to find. She made them herself and so each is unique; hence there is rather a limited supply of pieces. I have been so lucky to find some beautiful examples recently.
I adore the single stylised leaf, clusters of berries and forget-me-not flowers hand crafted in silver on this pendant. The Swiss lapis is a beautiful deep blue and there is also a Swiss lapis bead near the bale to link in beautifully with the main stone. Amy usually found a way to use the bale to connect to the pendant stylistically too, and here she has used a circle of tiny balls to represent the balls technique she has used throughout the design. It is a very typical Amy bale, large enough to accommodate a variety of chains…the chain, by the way is not included here.
I love the sinuous silver wire design to the verso, which means that it sits well when worn as there aren’t stones to the verso. The graduated cabochons used in the design are so colourful; there is garnet, amethyst, citrine, chrysoprase and chalcedony. It is a bright and vibrant piece.
The pendant measures approx 9cm in height (including the bale)and is a lovely, weighty jewel. In such pleasing condition with no damage to the stones at all. Some patina so would polish further if desired.
I shall send in a new gift box by Special Delivery within the UK or else by International Express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only and are not included.
