Description

A fabulous Amy Sandheim of London piece dated from the mid 1920s, which features a beautifully-faceted rock crystal stone as the main feature. It has a very pretty decorative silver cap with vine leaves and grapes detailing and is studded by two pink stones. I love how Amy made these pendants double-sided pieces. It just means that when you wear it, you are sure to see the design, no matter which way the pendant turns. Gorgeous!

The pink stones tests as ruby (top stones on each side) and pink tourmalines. They are different shades of pink, which just look wonderful together. In the 1920s, rubies were being grown in labs so I am assuming this is the case for the two large rubies here. They are rubies, test as rubies and have ruby characteristics-they are not paste / glass.

I love the juxtaposed shapes, with the rectangular outline of the large rock crystal and the circular pink stones, with the circle being replicated in the shape of the outline of the cap on each side. The pendant is as squat in your hand as you would expect it to be, so there is a lovely weight to the piece. The silver sautoir chain has a type of rectangular paper clip sort of design to it, which I think works well with the pendant. It can be worn as a single chain or else doubled to put the pendant more towards your throat. It is approx 79cm (31 inches) long. The pendant is approx 7cm by 3.2cm. In pleasing condition, with a few tiny nibbles along the main edges seen under the magnifying lens, however, nothing major and nothing to be seen with the naked eye thankfully. She is ready to wear.

I shall send in a necklace presentation box by Special Delivery within the UK or else by International Express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only and are not included.
