Wonderful blues to lilacs in these chalcedony stones

Description

This is a striking hand-crafted Arts and Crafts necklace from the c1910 era, which is possibly German. I have seen similar open work foliate panels to this by German designers in the past. Indeed, Theodor Fahrner made similar pieces in the c1900-1910 era. The hand-worked leaves are also similar to the Skonvirke work of the Danish designers so that could also be a possibility. Such a beautiful necklace to wear.

The bubble and vein work on the leaves is beautiful, giving them quite the texture. I have left the patina, as you can see, as it adds such depth to the leaves. Graduated blue chalcedonies are used both in the drop section and along the main length of chain. Three graduated stones form the drop and I love that the largest is at the end of the drop.

The stones are all those beautiful blues to lilacs you get with the chalcedony stone and they do look so striking against the skin. The beads are graduated from the largest near the main part of the pendant to the smallest towards the catch. There are 15 stones in all.

I cannot find a maker’s mark but as you see, I have left the patina. It is clearly by a top designer / craftsperson. In such pleasing condition, the height of the pendant section measures approx 8.1cm, including the drop and the length of the chain is approx 42cm (16.5 inches). I hope you can see in the images that it is such a flattering piece to wear.

I shall send in a new gift box (not the box in the images) by special delivery within the UK or else by international tracked and signed. Thank you.
