Description

An extremely rare Jugendstil piece c1900, which was acquired in Vienna and which I believe is Austrian in origin. It is unmarked but you can see how finely this has been created by hand. It is delicate and fine work, with a dark navy blue lustrous enamel. Exquisite!

Very reminiscent of some of the Wiener Werkstatte pieces in that it is showing the juxtaposition of a dark blue enamel with the silver of an animate object, in this instance a young person with flowing hair. It could be a male or female figure. The idea of the enamel representing water is further exaggerated by the use of double chains both at the top and at the bottom of the design. Again, I have seen similar in selected antique Viennese pieces of Jugendstil design.

The pearl slice in the drop has been nestled into its own silver setting-again displaying the fineness of the craftsperson’s work. It is a beautifully rare piece and so eye catching to wear. From the top bale to the bottom of the pearl it measures approx 7.5cm. The main plaque measures approx  2.8cm wide. Please note the main chain in the images is not included-the price is for the pendant alone. Thank you!

Please note the box in the images is not included but I will include a new gift box to keep this lovely thing safe.

I am not posting to Germany at the moment.
