Description

A beautiful example of a late Victorian / early Edwardian gold gate bracelet set with stones, in this instance set with super lively opals. Tested as 15ct gold, the bracelet has 11 graduated opals, each clearly having been selected because of the intensity of the colour flashes, which include blues, greens, oranges and reds. It is a sumptuous example of this type of antique bracelet and will be a most welcome addition to someone’s wrist.

Each of the opals are claw set and then each hinges to the next and last in the arrangement. This gives such fluidity of movement in the bracelet, to ensure it fits like a glove. There are four gold links between the end of the fiery opals on each side to the catch. I also think the bracelet is a little more generous in length than one would usually find, at approx 18.2cm (a touch over 7 inches). Fabulous too, to have 11 stones as sometimes you get a row of 5, 7 or even 9 but with 11 it covers the whole of top part of your wrist with ease. More opals to see! 15ct gold rather than the usual 9ct, which also sets it apart from the majority.

The bracelet is in pleasing antique condition, including still possessing its gold arm mechanism as a safety feature, plus a safety chain too which just means you can wear it with security. It came to me in the antique box you see in the images and I am happy to send that to you if you would like it, although I believe it may have been a box for a watch originally. I think they may have been companions for many a year.

I shall send the beautiful thing by Special Delivery within the UK or else by Express courier internationally. Boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
