Description
This is a very pretty antique Arts and Crafts necklace, clearly hand crafted in the c1910 era, with a Celtic style design. The interwoven silver design is really attractive as are the two very well-matched turquoise cabochons, an oval stone at the centre and a large triangular pear-shaped stone on the drop.
This is such a sleek and characterful piece, with the typical Arts and Crafts rope work detailing at the base of the stones’ settings. Lovely too, that the drop is so large as it really adds a lot more balance to the whole design. It is an organic necklace with such beautiful flow in the design. It is on a fine silver chain, which does have an extender in place to offer a little more flexibility of length. The pendant measures approx 5.6cm in height and the wearable length of the chain is flexible between 39 and 44cm (approx 15.25 to 17.25 inches) It is in pleasing condition retaining some patina. There is an old “.925” mark to the verso and it has been mooted it could perhaps have been a design created for Liberty & Co.
