Description
An unusual and beautiful gold washed pendant from the c1910 Edwardian era. It is a large and beautiful, hand-crafted piece reminding me of both the Arts and Crafts and Etruscan designs of the day. I believe it is from the c1900 to c1910 era. The large blue moonstone makes quite the statement at the centre of the large gold washed silver plaque. The colours work wonderfully well together to create an opulent and eye catching pendant of generous proportions.
I love the large coordinating bale, meaning that you could use a wide variety of chains whether silver gilt or gold. I love, too, the hand crafted wrapped wire links at the top of the pendant, that lead to bale section. There is a simple, Etruscan style design around the large sugarloaf moonstone. The pendant is completed by a silver gilt ball suspended below the main plaque.
It tests as silver gilt and it measures approx 6.4cm by 3.1cm. In pleasing order for her age with an age-related dullness to the gold wash which you really wouldn’t want to remove. Some slight wear to the silver gilt in line with her age and nothing to detract from her beauty as you look at her. Moonstone in excellent order.
