Description

A large blister pearl ring, hand crafted c1900 and which has berries and coils with ropework settings, very much in style like William Thomas Blackband of the Birmingham School.

A statement ring with a longish and lustrous blister pearl, which has been individually set in its unique silver setting. You can see the organic setting that the jeweller had to create for the pearl and it is so A&C, beautifully uneven, making no apology for the non-symmetrical shape of the pearl. There is a rope work twisted silver wire placed at the foot of the setting.

On each shoulder is a pair of coils with three small silver balls placed in between them. On one side one of the coils extends below the line of the ring but I believe it to have been crafted that way. It does not look as if it happened later.

The ring’s band is still wonderfully circular and the back of the ring is covered in silver, making it tactile and warm to wear. An ergonmic fit. It measures approx as a UK size P.5 (US 8). Ready to wear.
