Description
What a wonderful Edwardian necklace with such fabulously fiery opals. Unusual to find and such a sumptuous longer length too. It bears the Edwardian “9C” stamp near the clasp and it dates from the c1910 era, when jewellery was light, opulent and classic in design. Each of these vibrant opal beads has been individually set with gold into the chain at intervals; hence, we call it a station necklace.
Every opal has vibrant, fiery flashes and I am hoping you can see that in the images here and on the video (on etsy). Reds, greens, oranges and blues. Every stone carefully selected so that the overall theme is sublime. The smallest opals are approx 3mm and the largest at the front measures approx 7mm in diameter.
This design is timeless and the quality of this piece is wonderful. The length is rare- at 65cm (25.5 inches) you can actually pop it over your head without needing to undue the clasp. As you can see, it is a very wearable length for us today too. A beauty of an antique necklace and you would certainly struggle to find another like this.
In excellent, well-cared for condition with all opals undamaged. Hard to believe she is over 110 years old! A gorgeous thing.
I will send in a new gift box and send by Special Delivery within the UK or else by express courier internationally. Boxes in the images are not included and are used for display only. thank you.
