Description

NOW RESERVED – thank you!

A very eye-catching and attractive Arts and Crafts pendant, c1930s clearly designed by Bernard Instone. The structure is a wreath design, with four amazingly coloured and fiery opal doublets nestling amid draped Instone leaves, which have been hand-tooled.

This wreath design not only shows these spectacular opals, but berries and coiled tendrils too, as well as those typical Instone leaves.

There has been a conversion from a brooch to this pendant and there is a lovely, large bale, allowing for a variety of chains. The jeweller has done a great job too, of removing a lot of lead solder that had been applied before I acquired the piece. There is only a teeny tiny remnant on the left where the bale attaches to the rim, mentioned for accuracy purposes. The stones have obviously been selected for their individual play of colour-with copious flashes of red, green and other colours too. Each stone is a different size and shape…..such a naturalistic and organic design. The stones are in pleasing condition.

I am happy to include this heavy sterling silver belcher chain with the pendant, however, if you wish to purchase the pendant alone-do please drop me a line and we can discuss.

The pendant measures approx 4.4cm in height, including the bale. Unmarked, as was fairly typical for these pieces. It is a lovely piece.

I shall send in a new gift box, as boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary tracked and signed postage is included. Thank you.
