Description

A beautiful c1900 antique hand-crafted Arts and Crafts pendant necklace, very possibly an Artificers’ Guild piece or else Birmingham School. I adore the length of the drop, which is actually three sections all together. The moonstones are well matched and have a good level of adularescence so that you see the blue shimmers when you move the necklace around.

The top section has a small, domed moonstone surrounded by circles of ropework and a hand-tooled leaf at the top. This panel is linked to a double blister pearl section, with the pearls being mounted in a mille grain setting. The large section has a glorious moonstone with cloudy white to blue colours as you move it. it, too, has been set in a finely millegrained setting. Hand-tooled leaves sit at the Cardinal points, with ropework circles connecting them. Tiny silver balls intersperse the design throughout the three panels.

It is such an elegant and attractive design, which is on its original silver chains. There has been a catch replacement at some point. In excellent condition, with some patina you may wish to polish further. The drop of the pendant measures approx 5.8cm and the wearable length of the chain is approx 44.5cm (17.5 inches) so it is a lovely wearable length for us today.
