A very beautiful Belle Epoque pendant c1905, which has been wonderfully executed. It is fairly rare to find a piece which features sapphire pastes in as much exuberance as this. Typically petite in size, it still makes a fine and impressive statement.
The shape resembles a bow tied at the top and a fairly oval wreath shape, which features 7 graduating faceted sapphire pastes, interspersed with diamond pastes. Both the bow details and the bale are studded with these diamond pastes. What lifts the pendant even further, is the fact that it is silver gilt on the settings and reverse. This looks wonderful with the blue pastes in particular.
The pendant has a mark for sterling silver and a maker’s symbol which I don’t recognise. The fine, silver chain may help us a little as it looks like it is stamped “830S” and has Swedish import marks on it. Probably created in either Germany or France and then imported into Sweden.
The pendant measures approx 3.5cm in height and he chain measures approx 49cm (a touch over 19 inches). I will send in a new gift box as the box in the images is for display purposes only. Thank you.
