A beautiful antique c1900 English Arts and crafts necklace, which features so much hand-wrought work in such an attractive design. With a definite Birmingham School flavour, in my opinion, the small blue enamel plaques look lovely paired with the river pearls. In excellent condition, it even retains its original toggle fastener.
Each of those enamel plaque links are fabulously worked with ropework detailing at the base of the square enamel’s setting and with a large silver ball, flanked by a smaller on each side, to every corner. The circular links between each enamel-set link are set with silver balls too. I love the three drops from those central three circular panels. A small chain and then a Mississippi pearl / river pearl is set at the end of the chain drop, with the central drop being longest and with the largest pearl.
It is such a wonderfully detailed necklace and is also such an attractive piece. The central drop measures approx 3.2cm. The chain measures approx 41cm (16 inches) so it is a lovely length that sits just under the throat. Completely wearable as a daytime piece too. In pleasing condition with some wear to the enamel on the plaque on the furthest right. Barely noticeable unless scrutinised. Some patina.
Complimentary tracked and signed post is included. I will send by courier internationally. Please note that the boxes in the images are for display only but I will send it in a new necklace box for you to keep her safe.
