Description

A beautiful statement so-called penanular pin dating from the early years of the 1900s. It was designed to allow two sides of a blanket to be pinned together so that it could be worn as a cloak. This large example is in the Arts and Crafts genre and has three square Swiss lapis cabochons, which have been hand set in strategic places.

The Celtic design of wavy lines and circles is typical of this type of pin. This is a particularly well-made example and if you flip her over, you can see the lovely hinge section, indicating further the care that has gone into this piece. It also retains its original and straight pin…hurrah.

The length of the pin section with Swiss lapis is approx 8cm and the round disc forming the main part of the pin has an approx diameter of 5.2cm, so she is a statement piece.

No markings but does test as sterling silver. There is patina as you can see, however, it does enhance the pattern so I will leave it for you to decide upon.

I will send to you in a new box by Tracked and Signed delivery.
