An eye-catching design of above average size for a c1900 pendant necklace. Beautifully decorated in an ombre enamel from grass green at the top to midnight blue at the bottom. The use of blister pearls throughout both the pendant and the chain is wonderful, bringing the two parts of the necklace together superbly.
There are some fabulous Art Nouveau touches in the structure, such as those sinuous stalks leading to heart-shaped leaves. It is wonderful to find the original oval blister pearl drop still attached and also the two original spacers and the original barrel clasp fastener, plus original chains. Even the enamel is in superlative condition, with the colour still popping.
A fabulous antique Art Nouveau necklace, singing the ideals of the AN movement. The pendant makes a lovely statement, as it is a good size at approx 6.2cm and the chain is approx 41cm (16 inches) long. The verso has been enamelled in blue enamel, as was often done for added stability of the enamel work. It is a lovely thing, of a good weight, unlike some of the more inferior enamelled pieces of the c1900 era.
