Description
A fabulously designed Jugendstil / Art Nouveau pendant necklace c1900 made in Pforzheim, Germany, which was imported into London in 1904. The UK import stamps are clear to see, as is the importer’s mark in a triangle “MS” for Max Stollsteimer. He was a German who operated very much like the Murrle Bennett company, including beautiful Jugendstil designs into the UK from Pforzheim. His pieces are always sought after.
This beautiful example, shows the sinuous lines juxtaposed to angular lines, something which was done so successfully in good Jugendstil design. A complex but pleasing pendant with lots of lines overlapping each other. The large turquoise cabochon in the centre of the design is a beautiful bright turquoise colour and the wing pearl suspended below the main pendant is in excellent condition too.
This striking and large pendant also has a brooch fitting. The gold chains are all original, as is the lovely barrel clasp fastener. Clearly stamped 9ct gold, it is a wonderful example of one of Stollsteimer’s pieces and it really is in pristine condition. Ready to wear or else gift. From the ring at the top of the small chains to the bottom of the pearl drop measures approx 6.3cm in height. Wearable length of the chain is approx 40cm (15.75 inches)
I will supply in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you. International Tracked and Signed and Royal Mail Special Delivery within the UK is included free of charge.
