Description

A lovely, unique Arts and Crafts piece from the c1900 era, which has several characteristics similar to the work of that “Glasgow Girl” Mary Thew. Wonderfully crafted by hand, this piece shows the use of two silver ropework wires, one much thicker than the other. I love the structure of the piece and it is an added bonus for me that it is set with moonstones, both at the central point and at the four cardinal points.

The bale is a beautiful touch of engineering, being hinged so that you can open it out to wear with a chain as a pendant and then collapsible so that you can tuck away the bale if you wish to wear the piece as a brooch. The main cruciform structure in silver has a narrow lip edging to it and set inside are the moonstones along with a flattened thicker ropework design, leading the eye to the centrally set moonstone.

This piece has such an ethereal lightness to it, both from the scrolling open work silver structure and of course, from the magical touch of the moonstones. In excellent condition with just some patina, which would polish further if you so desired. The height of the pendant is approx 4.5cm, including the bale. The chain is not included, as the listing is for the pendant / brooch only.

I shall send by complimentary Special Delivery within the UK or by international tracked and signed. Boxes in the images are not included but I will send in a lovely new  box for you. Thank you.
