Description

A beautiful Edwardian rose gold pendant c1910, which is very reminiscent of Murrle Bennett pieces. Clearly a quality piece by an excellent maker, it comes with a beautiful 9ct rose gold fetter chain with original barrel fastener. A sumptuous pairing!

The pendant hangs on a pair of original chains and it is such a wonderfully pretty Giardinetti design. With a light blue, round turquoise set with four sets of double claws at the centre of the design, there is a gold scrolled framework to either side. Three stalks rise from the turquoise with seed pearl heads.
Suspended below the main section of the pendant is a lovely caged pearl, probably a Mississippi pearl. This type of cage work was executed in a number of Murrle Bennett designs too.

The rose gold chain, from the same era is beautiful and these are actually quite tricky to come across now-especially in rose gold. The pendant and chain look wonderful together. The pendant is stamped “9CT” on the reverse with a partial maker’s mark (I could read what might be an E?) It measures approx 5cm in height. The chain is British too with a “9CT” tiny old style plaque on the chain near the fastener. It measures approx 42cm in length (approx 16.5 inches).
