This I believe may be a wonderful one-of-a-kind piece designed by Hermann Haussler for Theodor Fahrner in the c1908 era. It is fully signed with the TF mark “DEPOSE” and “935” for the purity of silver content. It is fitted with both brooch and pendant fittings, which both look to be original. I have never seen anything like this design before and I have to say it is gorgeous.
It has been worked upon by top enamel restorers in Hatton Garden in London, as there were some tiny missing pieces within the leaves and flower sections. She is now ready to face the next 120 years with secure enamel and a design for all to see. Of course you can notice the restoration work but it is intended to be just that, restoration. I adore the black and white plant pot, which is reminiscent of Wiener Werkstatte designs, Koloman Moser etc from that era. The main plaque has a central panel with two large flowers in purple and blue, with an arrangement of leaves and tiny yellow flowers around it. There are small thin, rectangular green lines of enamel down the two sides of the plaque.
A smaller, plaque is suspended below by five sturdy links. It features a line of flowers and leaves reflecting the narrative in the main section. Nine long silver chains, culminating in a silver ball are suspended at the bottom of the design. It is miraculous that they are all still present, as far too often you see one or more missing. The pendant / brooch drop is 8cm by approx 3.8cm.
The narrow plaque is stamped with the three marks mentioned in the first paragraph, which is excellent to have. As I said, I have never seen anything like this piece before and you have the pleasure of wearing it as either a pendant or else a brooch. A stunningly rare Fahrner piece.
