Description
An impressive and completely beautiful statement brooch of superb quality and craftspersonship. The largest pink tourmaline on the drop is outrageously huge in size and it is a real beauty you can literally “get lost in”. All five pink tourmalines are well-matched for that wonderful true pink you get with tourmalines. The two largeish pearls near the top of the design have not been tested but do have a lovely lustre. They have been nicely nestled into a careful setting so perhaps it could be worth having them tested by a pearl expert. This amazing brooch has been painstakingly crafted by hand-what an achievement!
This fabulous drop brooch is a marvellous example of quality design meeting superb skills in execution. Both sections are carried out with filigree work and silver balls, singular and in clusters of three, quite typical for the A&C designers of the era (earlier years of the 20th century). The cabochon pink tourmalines are bezel-set and open-backed to allow light through the gorgeous things. The precision of the work is astounding , not least if you turn this beauty over. Please do take a look at the exquisite work to the verso. Clearly a piece created by a top designer / craftsperson but as of yet, I just don’t have enough for a clear attribution. My best guess at the moment would be that it is by one of the Guilds, as the work is of such a high standard.
In super condition, some patina which would polish further if you prefer. All stones, pearls and silver work are in wonderful condition. It is a large statement piece and measures approx 7cm in height by approx 4cm wide. Unmarked but silver and stones tested.
I shall send this magnificent brooch in a new gift box by Special Delivery within the UK or else by express courier internationally. Boxes in the images are not included. Thank you.
