Description

What a hugely impressive antique coral brooch. Crafted (rather unusually) with a gold structure, this is an impressive piece indeed. There is a very similar example exhibited at the British Museum in London.
Having been created most likely in the mid 1800s in Naples, Italy it is a joy of a find for several reasons. Not least as it is an exquisite piece demonstrating the art of the Italian coral carvers; it has intricately carved leaves as well as gold spirals, interwoven throughout this grapes and vine design.

It has a drop section too, which is studded with tiny coral grapes. It adds that touch of articulation beautifully. The drop is attached via a hook, so you can remove it if you wish to wear an alternative version of the brooch some days. (Please note I will be listing the matching earrings)

The yellow metal has been XRF tested and tests as approx 12ct gold. The brooch is large and measures approx 6.2cm by 6.5cm. In pleasing condition.

I will send in a new gift box (boxes in the images are for display only) by special delivery within the UK or else by international express courier. Thank you.
