Description

A beautiful, instantly recognisable Levinger & Bissinger piece from c1900, Pforzheim, Germany. It makes such a Jugendstil / Art Nouveau statement.

Clusters of delicate pale green, four petalled flowers are arranged around the top section of the brooch, each having a tiny silver ball at its centre. The pale green to silver colour is so subtle and makes a wonderful change to the stronger colours sometimes found on these Jugendstil pieces.

The stalks are sinuous and curving, further exaggerating the Art Nouveau design of the brooch. One natural pearl is set amidst the stalks on the right side and a further natural pearl is attached to the small silver chain suspended below the main section of the brooch.

It is stamped on the reverse in the Levinger & Bissinger usual stamps of “900” and DEPOSE. I can’t see their maker’s mark but that is not unusual. In pleasing overall condition, under the loupe you can see that a few of the leaves have been restored but it has been a super job. With the naked eye, it is not discernible. Original pin and C clasp.

It measures approx 3.5cm across by approx 3.6cm in height. A truly beautiful design. Please note the box in the images is not included, however, I will provide a new gift box.
