Description
A gorgeous Arts and Crafts brooch c1900, which feels like a Scottish piece-perhaps Glasgow School of design. It is hand crafted and beautifully worked, with the most beautiful detailing, especially in the way the stones have been mounted. You can see the “castellated” sort of collars that they sit in.
At first I thought them to be the same sort of stones, however, on closer inspection the top stone is an interesting glass piece, with lines running through it. The stone on the drop is a malachite. They suit each other very well, being shades of green obviously selected to complement one another.
Twisted wire work in two sections, forms the main shape of the brooch and when they meet, there are graduated balls in silver. That would be a superbly attractive brooch on its own, however, with the drop on the chain, it just has a wonderful design.
It is in excellent condition, with its original pin, hinge and C clasp. It measures approx 3.7cm in height. The box in the images is for display only but it will be sent to you in a new gift box.
