Description
An attractive, hand-crafted antique c1900 Arts and Crafts ring, which is firmly attributed to Mary Thew of the Glasgow Girls. This ring is a large design so makes an impressive statement on the finger. On a typical double A&C band in silver, the large moss agate stone in the centre is flanked by two typical Mary coiled spirals of rope twist silver work. It is a lovely, bold ring.
The moss agate stone is large and has all of the lovely inclusions you would wish to see,; the green “moss” as well as the orange of carnelian in there too. Lots to be mesmerised by. The scalloped trim around the stone is beautiful and adds that touch of individuality to the design. I am pretty sure it is a one-off. The spirals are clearly hand-crafted-no exact symmetry here.
The way the bands attach to the face of the ring I have seen on another few Mary examples before. The face of the ring measures approx 2,5cm in height. A very comfortable ring to wear too and the size is approx UK size N.5 (US 7). In excellent condition I am pleased to say.
I shall send in a new ring box by complimentary tracked and signed or else Special Delivery within the UK. Thank you. Ref:cvy
