Max Gradl attr Jugendstil brooch c1900 in silver with chrysoprase and baroque pearl drop

£280.00

A wonderful, new-to-me Pforzheim design c1900 most probably by Max Gradl

1 in stock

A wonderful Pforzheim piece, which looks like a Max Gradl design, most likely for Theodor Fahrner, as it resembles some other pieces I have had in the past, both in look and in feel. A beautifully worked piece of pure Jugendstil design with those sinuous lines.

I have not seen this particular design before so it is very exciting to find. Marked on the reverse “900” and “GES. GESCHUETZT” which I have seen on these Fahrner designer pieces before. It feels substantial and heavy in your hand, exactly as you would expect.
I love the cut-out designs and the pitted sections which retain patina. In fact the whole piece has been left with the original patina making it almost look like silver gilt. Of course you cou could polish easily if you prefer too.
It was missing its pearl drop so my team of jewellers have handmade a baroque pearl drop with her and it is so in keeping as you can see the twists of the wire because of its hand crafted nature. An exquisite brooch!

The brooch measures approx 3.7cm in height by approx 3.6cm wide. All in excellent condition-both silver work and stone.
PLEASE NOTE I CAN NOW NO LONGER SEND TO GERMANY DUE TO CHANGES IN PACKAGING LAWS THERE.
