A beautiful Murrle Bennett Arts and Crafts bracelet, c1900 which combines beautiful Arts and Crafts silver detailed panel work with square panels of mother-of-pearl, hand set in a fine mille grain setting. I have never seen this exact design before, although did see a similar bracelet to this sell at Tadema Gallery a few years ago. It is a stunningly fresh design, being executed in crisp silver and creamy white.
Fully stamped with the “950” silver mark as well as the “MBo” maker’s mark on the relief panel next to the clasp. The swirly Art Nouveau design on the square silver plaques is lovely and with the light patina on the design, it shows a real sense of depth in the motif. There are some very pretty, hand crafted rectangular silver links connecting each silver motif panel to the mother-of-pearl panels.
A round bolt fastener (again the other few examples I have seen have been consistent in this too). The bracelet is in excellent order and even retains its original safety chain. She’s a beauty, at approx 18.5cm long-it is a nice length, not too tight!
The box in the images is for display purposes only but I will provide a new box to keep her safely in.
