Description

This is such a fabulous festoon design antique Jugendstil necklace, most likely crafted in Pforzheim, Germany. The construction is just sumptuous and there is a real softness and flow to how the impressive pendant section moves, as there are so many tiny, detailed pieces which move separately to the other parts. It is a wonderful example and even retains its hand-crafted toggle fastener.

I love this design so much; the way there are three mother-of-pearl cabochons along the top of the drop section and how the mother-of-pearl theme continues as you drop to the very last drop on the piece. It is also used to represent the centre of two flowerheads. Stylised leaves have been crafted in their own petite navette-shaped boats in silver, with a single marcasite set in the centre to give each a shimmer when they catch the light.

One of the things I adore in some Jugendstil design, is the juxtaposition of different shapes and here we have even have triangles represented. It is such astonishing work. I admire the way there are so many small chains used in the design to suspend a single element. Inspired design and it gives a real flow to the necklace as you wear or hold it. Flip her over and look at the vast amount of work that has gone into this piece. She is in wonderful condition with all stones present and correct too. The drop on the pendant section measures approx 8,5cm and the wearable length of the chain is approx 44.5cm (17.5 inches).

I shall send in a necklace presentation box. All boxes in the images are for demonstration only. Complimentary Special Delivery within the UK is included and complimentary express courier internationally is offered too.
